No matter how long I’ve been doing this, whenever I find myself talking about being a photographer, there is always one question that comes up..

What kind of photography do you do? Truth is, I’ve been many different kinds of photographer in many different situations and I’ve worked hard to succeed at them all. Do I shoots Portraits? Yes. Landscapes? Yes. Travel? Wildlife? Lifestyle? Yes, yes and yes. Because I knew from the start that I did not want to be labelled as one kind of Photographer. And so I often just say ‘I’m a Photographer’ and leave it to the images show you what I do. Have a look around my site and you’ll see just what I mean.

My photography career actually started in an Italian Restaurant, when the millionaire owner asked me to stop waiting tables and take photos of his whole hotel. It’s possible its because I was a terrible waiter but I like to think its because he had seen my portfolio and thought I would make a better photographer. And photograph I did. I shot everything - kitchens, bar, restaurant, menu, rooms, function suite, offices and finally all the staff employed there. I didn’t get paid much - That one job led to many more. Restaurants and hotels in my hometown hired me to do the same for them. Then someone asked me to shoot their wedding. One of those turned into many. Moments. Pushing me towards photography. I’m grateful to them all because really I had nothing but self-belief and a good imagination at that point but it got me started.

Over the years I’ve been a Wedding Photographer, a Sports photographer, a Fashion photographer and an Event Photographer. I got to travel extensively with my camera and work with some incredible talent over the years and had my work published nationally and internationally. That one job opened the door to fun, rewarding and successful career. And after all that I found myself wanting to give something back like many do later in life. So I became a teacher of Photography back in the UK. I was only in my first post as a teacher for 2 months before I was promoted to Head of Photography. And so I set about putting all my experience and knowledge into creating a first class educational platform not just for Photography but Video Production. By the end of my two years in that post we has gained official educational sponsorship from both Apple and Canon UK and successfully helped thousands of young people progress towards a career in the Arts and Media Industries.

After over a decade of teaching, I felt the desire to return to photography and so in 2017, I returned home to the Highlands of Scotland and started making plans for the future.

I’ve done all kinds of photography over the years as you can see but mostly now my work is centered around hiking, camping, van life & travel in beautiful Scottish locations including Skye, Assynt, Harris, Shetland, Orkney, The Faroe Islands and various international destinations…

I work with passionate individuals, organisations and brands, helping them to stand out and achieve success through creative photography.

Away from assignments, working with clients or teaching photography workshops, I have a pretty nomadic nature and love just packing up the car and taking off on adventures in the outdoors. and I’m passionate about responsibly enjoying the beauty of the natural world.
